Do some self-reflection
Having a clear understanding of your life is the first thing you need to do. Start by having an inventory of your life to see what is working. You can do your list by doing a self-reflection.
You can do that mentally, but I prefer to put my self-reflection on paper because it organizes my thoughts better.
Get your life together by knowing your life purpose.
I firmly believe everyone has a reason for being or a life purpose. Knowing my life goal helped me put my energy and dedication into the things or activities that can truly improve my life. When you do not know your purpose, it will be easier to spend your time doing stuff that does not give you genuine happiness and fulfilment.

Have a goal
Having a plan is like having a purpose. We can compare a person with no life goals to someone just going through the day without expecting anything to accomplish. We mustn’t be afraid to commit to a goal or plan to organize a messy life. Because having a clear goal will prompt us to direct our thoughts on inspired and worthy actions.
Review your goals and make adjustments.
Another thing to do to get your life together is to review your existing goals. Changes in our lives also change our priorities. Your goal and action plan last year may not fit this year.
But we don’t necessarily need to change the goal. However, we should review them and adjust your action plan based on your current situation. If you feel like a specific goal is making some part of your life disorganized, it is time to review it and adjust your action plan based on your current situation.
Take consistent action
Sometimes, our lives become chaotic because we always put things for later. “I will do this later” become our favourite line until your tasks file up and become a mountain. We fail because we do not take consistent action and allow procrastination to consume us. Find here how to overcome procrastination and how to take consistent action.
Getting our lives together means being responsible with our decisions, which means that we need to take action and do it consistently.
Learn effective time management strategies.
Having effective time management skills is a true life-changer. Even if we want to accomplish all tasks, we must admit we have limited time. We can only adopt effective time management strategies that will help us prioritize and devote our time to the most meaningful activities.
Have a routine
Having a routine or habit makes us do things easily. Routines are a good way to lessen the effort of making a decision every now and then. We can take advantage of establishing a routine to get our life together by making sure that we are building habits on the things that are meaningful for us, and that will help us avoid feeling like our life is disorganized.
Have time for your passion project.
What is your passion project? What’s this one thing that you really want to do? As adults, we have other pressing matters to put our time into- like keeping our family and earning money.
But if you are feeling unmotivated, one reason may be because you are denying yourself to be involved in your passion project. At least in my case, I feel like I’m taking control of my life when making time for my passion project. Why not try it and see if you will feel the same?
Decluttering
A clean and organized space helps a lot in being productive. That is why deciding what to keep and throw away is another way to get your life together. Because it is easier to focus and think, allowing us to make wise decisions when our space is organized and clutter-free.
Make yourself a priority.
I write about self-love and making yourself a priority on this website because I believe it can make us happy. As adults, we have different responsibilities, and sometimes we forget ourselves. Prioritizing yourself will help you and give you a chance to function at your best and avoid stress and burnout.
Understand what makes you happy.
Maybe your life is chaotic because you push yourself to the limit by doing the things you hate. You may be working for a job you do not like. If that is the case, ask yourself what things make you happy. If what you are doing currently is why you ignore another aspect of your life, then it is time to take action.
I know that it is not easy to leave everything- believe me, because I have been there. What I decided to do is to plan and take consistent action. Hoping that my actions will eventually take me to my desired life.
Set deadlines
Setting a deadline is also important in getting your life together, like scheduling. When you set no deadline for tasks, you can waste too much time on a few tasks without accomplishing others.
We all know different aspects of our lives revolve around different tasks, to-dos, and schedules that, without proper deadlines, will lead to overspending time on one part while ignoring another aspect. If you want to get your life together, start setting deadlines and be focused instead.
Step away from social media.
Yes, social media is helpful, but it also can cause us to question what we are and compare ourselves to the perfect life they often show on social media. Sometimes, our life is good, but we believe it is not because of what we see on social media. A social media detox is an excellent way to appreciate and reflect on your life.
Set up boundaries
It can be tiring to attend to everyone’s demands. Setting boundaries and learning to say no is not selfish. It is crucial so we can focus on improving our lives.
Take care of your thoughts
We also need to pay attention to our thoughts in the process of getting our life together. Any negative thoughts can be crippling and paralyze us. Taking care of your physical self
An unhealthy body will result in illnesses and will also affect our mental health. Who would want to work on goals and organize their life if they are in pain or with low energy? Taking care of our bodies is crucial to being our best version.
Create a budget
Financial strain can be stressful, and although you cannot have a lot of money instantly, it is wise to have a budget first to be informed of your current financial life. If you are feeling out of balance in your financial life, creating a budget and making a spending plan based on it greatly helps get your life together. Here’s a post about the importance of budgeting in improving our lives.
Pay off your debts
Another financial related topic is debt. Debts may have helped us feel good- buying stuffs or helped us navigate difficult financial situations. Accumulating high interest debt puts us in financial strain and prevent us on achieving other important goals. Others ignore their debts but it can harm you in the long run. Borrowing cause you to lose your reputation not to mention that non-payment will increase your total debt because of penalties and interest. Get your life together by keeping your integrity- when you owe someone, pay them.
Be resilient
And lastly, resiliency is an important skill we need to adopt if we want to put our life in order. Life is full of changes and transitions, and we need to be capable of navigating through it. Plans change, and things happen; we need to be flexible.
